Once you begin our formal interview process, you will receive updates from our talent acquisition team along the way. If you are not selected to interview, you will receive a notification at the end of the process once the role has been filled. We believe SCML has a special culture, so we actively seek to protect it by hiring thoughtfully. In our experience, a comprehensive interview process is mutually beneficial. The average candidate can expect four to five rounds of interviews—some via phone, some via video, and some in-person. Candidates for senior roles should expect additional interviews.

The length of the process largely depends on candidate and team availability. It may take longer if there are schedule conflicts or if critical team members are out of the office. While we hope to move quickly, there are sometimes factors outside our control.

Typically, the first round is a non-technical, introductory screening with a member of our talent acquisition team, conducted via phone.

The second round is a technical interview with the hiring manager, conducted via a Zoom video call.

The third round may be a series of technical interviews with members of the hiring team, conducted via Zoom video calls.

The fourth round may entail a skills assessment (e.g., presentation, project, stock pitch, or writing sample).

The final round will be an onsite, in-person interview at our Arlington, Virginia, headquarters.

To enhance the quality, consistency, and efficiency of our hiring process, SCML utilizes various assessment tools in the hiring process, including writing samples, presentations, projects, and stock pitches. Assessment tools used will vary depending on the role and are used as only one of multiple data points in our hiring process.

SCML will reimburse standard and reasonable travel expenses (e.g., train, coach airfare, hotel) if receipts are provided. Non-local candidates who travel to our office for an interview will be provided with an expense reimbursement template to complete and can expect to be reimbursed via a check mailed within two to three weeks of the interview.

SCML may reimburse hires for standard and reasonable relocation expenses. Details are determined on a case-by-case basis, and the reimbursement is taxable income for the person hired.
